History

Sparrow Missions was founded in 2009 by Justin and Ashley Ross while they were serving as missionaries in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.  Justin is a graduate of Living Waters Christian School/Cornerstone Christian Academy and has always called Kentucky his home.  His journey to international missions began as a student of Living Waters Christian School in the summer of 1993.  A month-long trip to Panama ignited his love for God and a desire to live a life dedicated to the Great Commission.  Justin served as the Director of Operations for a missions organization based in Tulsa, Oklahoma for just over two years before he moved to Washington, D.C. to manage the East Coast operations for a large Christian Heritage Tour Company.   Since that first trip in 1993, Justin has led more than 1,300 missionaries across 15 nations, including:  Honduras, Panama, Venezuela, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, India, Vietnam, Peru, Trinidad, Jamaica, and Mexico.

Since that decision, the Lord has continued to bless Sparrow Missions with faithful and obedient believers who have fueled the growth of long-term ministry.  Over the past three years, Sparrow Missions has brought more than 280 missionaries, from at least 18 states, to San Pedro Sula.  God has used them start life-changing ministries such as our educational sponsorship program, weekly sewing clinics in Los Bordos and Las Casitas, a carpentry workshop for the men of Ministerio Vida, and the founding of a Children’s Home in 2014.

God is moving in Honduras, and our prayer is to keep Sparrow Missions involved in what God is doing!  Often missionaries will ask, “How did Sparrow get here?”  The answer should always be, ““God led us here.”  At Sparrow Missions, we are more than okay with that.  We want to be on His schedule, not Him on ours.
