Our Story
Sparrow Missions was born from a simple yet powerful truth: every person matters
deeply to God. What began as a short-term mission trip in 2009 quickly became a lifelong
calling. Moved by the brokenness they saw and the hope they carried, Justin and Ashley
Ross returned home with a burden to do more. What started in the slums of San Pedro
Sula, Honduras—where children faced daily cycles of poverty, violence, and despair—grew
into a vision to raise up local leaders and disciple the next generation.
2009
Building the base of the ministry
God placed a vision on the hearts of the Ross family
and led them to San Pedro Sula. They began serving
in Rancho Bonito, a riverside community scarred by
poverty and violence. Through children’s programs,
shared meals, and intentional mentorship, the
family started planting seeds of hope—reminding
kids and families that their lives matter and that
they are deeply loved.
2015
SPARROW ACADEMY LAUNCHES
What began as a small step of faith grew into Sparrow
Academy. After serving the community and walking
alongside women through discipleship, one need
became clear—the education of their children. We
started with kids’ classes and sponsorships to help
them attend public school, but the need was greater.
God led us to open Sparrow Academy, we started in a
small house, a school where children are discipled,
educated, and equipped to step boldly into their
God-given purpose.
2015

SUBLIME GRACIA
CHURCH IS PLANTED
Our journey with this community, just outside San Pedro
Sula, began through children’s outreach. As we built
relationships, God revealed a greater vision: planting
Sublime Gracia Church in a place where many churches
shared messages of legalism and rejection. This new
church became a light for the community—proclaiming
Christ’s truth, welcoming the broken, and nurturing a
community rooted in grace and love.

KAINOS CHURCH IS PLANTED
Kainos Church was established to serve the Rancho
Bonito community—a place where leaders and families
can grow in Him. In a community long shaped by
legalism, it provides a welcoming space dedicated to
sharing the true and gracious gospel while equipping
and sending out the body of Christ.
2022
SPARROW EXPANDS TO PERU
In 2022, the Thompson family joined Sparrow Missions,
responding to God’s call to reestablish and revitalize a
church in the heart of Lima, Peru. In a diverse,
multicultural setting, they are creating a place to equip
and send leaders to impact the world.

From the slums of San Pedro Sula to the villages of Northern Thailand and the city of Lima, Peru, Sparrow Missions exists for one purpose: to bring the hope of the Gospel to the forgotten and raise up leaders who will carry the mission forward.
