Sparrow Family, this is what just happened in Rancho Bonito. An electric circuit fire destroyed the homes of Andrea, our Assistant Director at Sparrow Academy, and several other Sparrow Missions families. We will provide more updates later today. This tragedy has affected several of our Sparrow Leadership Team members and Sparrow Academy students.

Many bordo residents came to the big cities of Honduras to pursue a better and more secure life. A big challenge for many is the lack of education or training needed to obtain profitable jobs. Because of your help, we're able to DISCIPLE, DEVELOP, and EDUCATE the forgotten of this country. We believe that it will help break the chains of poverty and through the work of the Gospel people will find hope and a new mindset.

This is Sindi! You may have met her last summer when she cooked delicious dinners for our teams. Nine years ago, Sindi came to Sparrow thanks to a girls’ jewelry-making workshop. She became part of the girls’ group led by Olguita and now she’s part of our leadership group.

Sindi is a sweet girl who has a tender heart and a special talent with kids. She currently works as a teacher’s assistant at Sparrow Academy. Her presence enlightens each classroom and every kid's life. She also serves every Wednesday at the Asilo.

We couldn't be more grateful for Sindi and her service!

Many of you already know Luis, aka Poyte. He came

Many of you already know Luis, aka Poyte. He came to our organization due to his interest in being part of Sparrow’s soccer team. Eventually, Poyte started getting involved in our boy’s youth group and carpentry workshop.

Now, five years later, he has multiple roles in our organization. He is Sparrow Academy’s chaplain, youth group leader at La Coroza, soccer coach for Rancho Bonito’s U16 boys team and ministry partner at the Asilo.

As you know, Poyte is an enthusiastic and joyful guy, who is always willing to serve and is a great example to others. We’re so blessed and grateful to have Poyte serving with us!

Today in Honduras we commemorate the Day of Lempir

Today in Honduras we commemorate the Day of Lempira, an Indian, who fought to defend his people from Spanish domination back in 1536. Nowadays, Cheiftain Lempira is considered a national hero.

Due to the current situation, this year, we were not able to celebrate this day at Sparrow Academy. But that couldn’t stop our teachers and students from dressing up at home!

Melissa is one of our first graduates from Sparrow Academy. She excelled throughout the years graduating as the class Valedictorian. She is an intelligent and dedicated girl who loves to serve. Meli helped her classmates achieve their goals by tutoring them.
