Vision
The Sparrow Carpentry Workshop is an avenue for young men to learn a vocation and to learn to live like Jesus. The workshop is a place of discipleship, gospel training, and leadership growth. These craftsmen are also involved in serving their neighbors, leading outreaches, and developing their communities.
History
Originally, the Sparrow Carpentry Workshop began in a local men’s drug and alcohol rehab facility. The workshop was designed as a creative outlet for men battling addictions. At that time, young men from the Bordos community would travel across town to learn welding and carpentry. Soon, the shop was relocated to the Sparrow Academy and the focus changed to crafting ukuleles and guitars under the tutelage of the well-known luthier, Steve Brown.
Ukuleles & Guitars
Every ukulele and guitar is unique and handcrafted from quality Honduran wood such as mahogany, rosewood, and granadillo. We pray over each instrument with the hope it will reach someone for the Gospel. All profit goes back to the Sparrow Carpentry Workshop to continue the ministry.
Luis’ Testimony
Before I met Christ, I would go to the streets for a walk, waiting for a drug dealer to approach me. I was an easy recruit to sell drugs and make money. That WAS one of my dreams. Now my dream is to go to India and other places to disciple and teach building ukuleles to those who have been forgotten by the world, just as I was, and tell them that God has never forgotten them.
