A Good, Good Father

A Good, Good Father

I just got back from “Revive” a conference for women missionaries living here in Honduras. We sang a Chris Tomlin song that I really love entitled, “Good, Good Father”.  Please read the lyrics below, maybe even click here and let God speak to you through this song.

Good Good Father by Chris Tomlin

I’ve heard a thousand stories of what they think you’re like
But I’ve heard the tender whispers of love in the dead of night
And you tell me that you’re pleased
And that I’m never alone

You’re a good good father
It’s who you are, it’s who you are, it’s who you are
And I’m loved by you
It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I am

I’ve seen many searching for answers far and wide
But I know we’re all searching
For answers only you provide
‘Cause you know just what we need
Before we say a word

You’re a good good father
It’s who you are, it’s who you are, it’s who you are
And I’m loved by you
It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I am

Because you are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways to us

You are…

As Christians, we have an understanding and knowledge of a Heavenly Father who will never leave us or forsake us. An Abba Father who loves us more than we can comprehend. Unfortunately, there are many, many people around the world who have never experienced the love of an earthly father, let alone the love of their Heavenly Father. None of the children living here at the Sparrow Missions Children’s Home have a biological father that is involved in their lives. Praise be to God that they all have a foster father who is! But, the greatest hope we can give the children living here is to tell them about the love of God the Father. The maker of Heaven and earth (Psalm 121:2). The Father who sent His only Son to die on the cross for their sins (John 3:16). The Father who is working all things out for their good (Romans 8:28). The Father of the fatherless (Psalm 68:5).

This message of a good, good Father is also the most important thing we can tell the community living around us. When they are struggling to put food on the table, we can show them the Lord who provides (1 Samuel 2:8). When they are sick and cannot afford to go to the doctor, we can introduce them to the Great Physician (Exodus 15:26). When their earthly father has been abusive, we can show them a Father whose love for them was so great that he allowed His only son to die for their sins (Romans 5:8). When their child is not making the best decisions in life, we can bring them to the Father who molds all hearts (Psalm 33:15).

Whatever your story, rest today in the love of your Father. After you’ve spent some time thanking Him for what a good Father He has been and is to you, ask Him to show you a friend or family member who needs to be introduced or reminded of their good, good Father. May He richly bless you this week!

God Bless, Roxanna
